CranioSacral Therapy
What is CranioSacral Therapy (CST)?
The CranioSacral system surrounds our central nervous system and is connected through our fascia; the connective tissue that surrounds all of our tissues, organs and bones. Tension within this system can have an effect on all of the body systems including musculoskeletal, endocrine, immune, and reproductive systems.
CranioSacral therapy uses a holistic approach to finding the primary restrictions within your body (sometimes where you experience pain isn't the cause of the issue). Over time tension patterns can form within your body, when the body is not longer able to compensate, symptoms can occur. CST uses a very light touch to ensure we are able to listen and follow the subtle changes occurring in the body.
SomatoEmontional Release (SER), is a process that can occur when the body expresses stored emotions held in the tissues. Sometimes when an event or trauma has occurred and we were unable to process it at the time, it can be stored or 'held' in our tissues, presenting as tension in our bodies. During a session the body can move, express and integrate these experiences, which can assist in long term change.

What to expect from your appointment?
Before Your Appointment
Wear comfortable clothing if possible, you’ll remain fully clothed throughout your session.
For babies and children, feel free to bring anything they love, such a their favourite toy or book to read. A water bottle is always good too.
During the Session
Each appointment takes place in my backyard studio.
For adults, you’ll lie comfortably on a treatment table supported by pillows and blankets. I use gentle touch on areas of tension in the body, often starting at the feet and working through the whole body. You’re welcome to close your eyes and relax, or talk about what’s been happening in your life.
For babies and children, treatment often happens in parents arms or lap, while sitting on the couch or or lying on the treatment table. Many babies feed, sleep, or play during their session. Parents are often worried their toddler won’t sit still long enough for treatment. Toddlers and older children can play with the many toys in the room and move around as they please.
After the Session
CST is a light touch but can create some deep shifts in the body. Everyone will have a different reaction to treatment and it’s hard to say how you will feel. Many people feel quite tired as your nervous system has down regulated. You many need to rest and take it easy after your session. It’s common to feel calm, light, or more spacious after a session. Often it takes a couple of days for treatment to integrate into the body and see how things have changed.
Babies often sleep more deeply, feed more comfortably and are more relaxed in their bodies.
Adults may notice improved movement, better sleep, and a greater sense of balance or clarity.
Drink plenty of water and allow some quiet time if you can.
